Huawei (Suzhou) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center, co-founded by Huawei and Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) in August last year, was revealed to public for the first on Friday in Suzhou.

On the same day, the AI innovation center and SIP announced to hold a 2020 AI application innovation contest, aiming at helping cultivate more AI talents and professionals, creating a better innovation environment of the industrial park, and building the industrial park into a renowned AI application innovation hub on a global scale.

Liu Duansuo, director of Huawei (Suzhou) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center and general manager of Suzhou branch of Huawei’s cloud business, said the AI innovation center will deepen cooperation with SIP in AI, industrial internet, 5G, and many other areas.

The Huawei (Suzhou) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center will also launch AI application innovation experiments with various partners, Liu said.

Since its launch last August, Huawei (Suzhou) Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center has made efforts in training professionals and building teams. To date, the center has set up an operation team with 13 people who have researched over 260 companies. The team has also organized 12 salons to facilitate communications on technologies and industrial information. Total number of audience has surpassed 1,000.

Li Feiyuan, deputy head of Suzhou Industrial Park Scientific & Informationalization Bureau, said he hoped to strengthen SIP’s tie with Huawei, especially in areas of technologies, projects and talents, to bring in more resources to the industrial park.

SIP is now home to 306 high technology companies and 384 provincial-level software companies. It has also incubated six unicorn companies (startup enterprises valued at over $1 billion) until now.
