Fernando Alonso failed in his latest quest to complete motorsport’s Triple Crown after he finished 21st in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
It was only the second time the Spaniard had taken part at the showpiece event after he was unable to qualify for the annual 200-lap, 500-mile race last year.
The 39-year-old competed in 2017, but Takuma Sato clinched the Indy 500 crown on that occasion and it was the Japanese driver who was victorious again this time.
