TASS, October 22. The Russian national football team is now placed 34th in the updated FIFA ranking, the list is published on its official website.
The Russian team now has 1,480 points. In October, Russia lost to Sweden in an exhibition match (1-2) and drew Turkey (1-1) and Hungary (0-0) in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League.
The Russian team dropped two places as Turkey and Algeria moved ahead. Top five remained the same with Belgium leading the list (1,765 points) followed by France (1,752), Brazil (1,725), England (1,69) and Portugal (1,661). The Spanish national team (1,639) rose from the seventh to the sixth place passing Uruguay (1,637), while Argentina (1,636) reached the eighth spot by overtaking Croatia (1,634). Colombia is tenth with 1,631 points.
In 2021, the Russian team will play the European Championships which had to be rescheduled from summer 2020 due to the pandemic. The Russians were drawn in the same group as Belgium, Denmark, who rose by three spots to 13th (1,610) and Finland ranked 55th (1,402).
